Crispian Riley-Smith

June 2009
I would like to announce the launch on an E-catalogue, which can now be viewed. This new technology allows you to zoom into images and get excellent quality detail of the drawing, the frame and the mount. If you want greater detail of drawings and frames send an email to crispian@riley-smith.com and I can email a high resolution file.

Over the next few months you will see a number of new additions to the website and from June there are a number of exhibitions I will be invloved in.
I have been working in the art market since 1989 and principally sell drawings. I also advise clients on bidding at auction, buying from dealers, valuations for IRS, valuations for Canadian Cultural Heritage, valuations for Insurance, valuations for other Tax purposes. I also work as a consultant to Bonhams for their Old Master Drawings.
My interest in the arts started as a student at Eton College, where I studied art history, and as a student at St. Andrews University in Scotland. After graduation I joined Sotheby's as a graduate trainee. Then I had a short spell at the British Museum, assisting a keeper in the Prints & Drawings Department. I then joined Phillips, Son & Neale. After a number of years training I went to work at Christie's in the Old Master Drawings Department, and in 1998 I started my own business. In 2000, with a number of colleagues, we launched Master Drawings in London, and in January 2007 launched Master Drawings in New York.
