Müller was a student of Baron Gros and Léon Cogniet. He exhibited regularly at the Salon and was bestowed with numerous honours. He worked on four important paintings for the ceilings in the Musée du Louvre, representing the periods of art in France under Saint Louis, Francois Premier, Louis XIV and under Napoleon 1.
This type of figure was used in the fresco in the Salle Denon, Musée du Louvre, which Muller worked on between 1864-18651.
